American Flag Bookmark in Plastic Canvas- Mady By You Monday

Unfortunately, my elbow is really giving me problems still, so I haven’t been able to crochet the handles for my bag. Even typing and using the mouse right now is bothersome. Ugh! It’s so hard for me to not use it. I did manage to get a plastic canvas bookmark designed and made this weekend since that only required me holding the canvas with that hand. With warm weather and all the holidays coming up I am in a patriotic mood, so I came up with this bookmark:

I am absolutely loving this bookmark! It came out exactly how I had it in my mind. Don’t you love it when crafts go right? Hehehe. This bookmark is available in my Etsy shop here.

What did you make or do this weekend?  I would love to hear about it!

Stocking up on Bookmarks- Made By You Monday

Today I wanted to show you all the bookmarks I’ve completed since last week. I had a short break to work up the monogram coasters which I showed you last Friday, but over the weekend I came back to the bookmarks. Here they are:

I still have one more that I am working on (not pictured).  I will be adding to these gradually over the next few weeks with some different designs as well, but my crafting adhd is taking over, and I think my next projects will be a couple of wreaths and a crocheted and lined bag or two.  Did you complete any projects over the weekend?

Quick Yarn Flower Hair Clips

If you haven’t noticed yet, I love yarn! Most of my crafting involves the use of yarn. When I started loom knitting back in the fall, I went on a purchasing spree and bought several different types of looms. I have different sizes of round and long looms. I also have a few other ones, such as a spool loom and a flower loom. Which brings me to my Made By You Monday project. Flower hair clips! I absolutely love how quickly they work up and how simple they are. Here are a few different sets I’ve completed:

Aren’t they cute?! And I love the possibilities with color combinations or trying different types of yarn (which I haven’t done yet).

Here is the loom that I used to make them:

I can’t remember the brand or exactly where I got it, but believe it was with Michaels or JoAnn’s.

These flowers are great for more than just hair clips. If you think you’ve seen them before on my blog, you’re right! I also love using them on my wreaths! Here are just a few:

Have you ever made these flower before?  What is your favorite use for them?

PS.. If you see an item you love, they are all available in my Etsy shop

Hope Checkbook Cover- Made by You Monday

The other week in my Work in Progress Wednesday post, I showed you the start of 3 checkbook covers.  I figured I would be cruising through them when we were away on spring break last week, but as luck would have it, I ended up with a nasty tummy virus.  I ended up not feeling up to working on anything most of the week (thus, no blog posts last week- I wasn’t up to anything!).  However, I did finally finish this Hope checkbook cover in the last couple of days.

I should be able to show you another one really soon too! (I got a big distracted today crocheting some cute flower coasters… Stay tuned for that too!)

This checkbook cover, along with others are available in my Etsy shop.  I am happy to make a custom order for you as well.  Direct link to this Hope checkbook cover is here: Hope Checkbook Cover

Spring Crocheted Washcloths- Made by you Monday

I’m running way behind this season switching out my home decorations.  I change them seasonally and often for the holidays as well.  But it’s been spring for over 2 weeks now, and my winter decorations are still out.  I intended to get to them over the weekend, but then my older son (who normally helps me move the boxes in and out of the attic) sprained his ankle very badly pole vaulting, ending up on crutches.  So, between the doctors on Saturday for that and then the younger son’s lacrosse game, and company yesterday, it still isn’t done.  But it’s ok! 🙂  Hopefully this week I will get a chance between homeschooling the little one and other to-do’s.  You certainly never know what the day holds!

I did, however, find time to whip up a couple of the bright, springy washcloths.

I made up the pattern as I went along 🙂  This was my 1st washcloth pattern created by me.  I think they came out pretty good.  And I love the colors!

I’m not sure how well the ribbing texture shows in the pictures.  I hope to have these available in my Etsy shop soon. Be sure to check out my Spring yarn wreath and Easter yarn wreath also available on Etsy.

I love this bag!- made by you Monday

I like purses, though I’m not one to buy a bunch of them or a any other thing for that matter (except maybe yarn LoL). However, I don’t feel as bad about making them though! I haven’t made more than one for myself yet, but I enjoy making them for others. I just love all the adorable bags out there to make.

This bag in particular is a favorite of mine.

20140331-073020.jpg

Sometimes I like to attach some cute flowers or a ribbon.

It’s based on  a lovely market bag pattern that I found over at Daisy Cottage Designs.  She has a wonderful blog for crochet!  I did adapt the pattern with the way I constructed the handles, and to make it larger as the pattern there was for a child-size bag (though I think that size is wonderful for adults too, depending on what you want to use it for).

I made one that I use as a purse sometimes.  Since it’s a market bag, it isn’t lined, so I just have to be careful that I don’t have anything small and loose in there.  I would love to figure out how to line these bags, but I seem challenged by round ones.  (I’m not a great sewer).  I have learned to line rectangular ones though 🙂

If you do not crochet and would like me to make you a bag, orders can be placed in my Etsy shop.

Crocheted Easter Eggs- Made by You Monday

I can’t remember where I had first seen those cute little crocheted Easter eggs. But I thought that it looked like a project I could handle and work up relatively quick. So I researched around the internet and compared some patterns. Then I went and got some foam egg shapes to stick inside. The pattern ended up not quite fitting my egg forms though. I don’t know it it was my yarn, my gauge or the eggs lol. So I ended up modifying the pattern a bit. Here is how my modified version turned out:

20140323-135033.jpg
I like them a lot, then I tried some different yarn that I saw at the store and thought would be perfect for Easter eggs and stuffed them with fiber-fill.

20140323-135404.jpg

The original pattern can be found here: http://delights-gems.blogspot.com/2013/03/crocheted-easter-eggs.html?m=1

I especially love the 2-color ones with the designs. That’s a bit tedious to me as I’m not great at changing colors. (Anyone know any good tutorials?).

Has anyone else tried any eggs? I would love to see your photos (and anything else you’ve been working on!)

If you would like to purchase a set or have a set created for you, they are available here in my Etsy shop.

Navy Coasters- Made by You Monday

With all the bustle of the holidays beginning, plus homeschooling my younger son, it gets challenging to find time to craft some days. I seem Togo in spurts where I’ll get a bunch done and then I’ll have weeks where I just can’t seem to get anything done.

Another big frustration is that while I LOVE doing the plastic canvas, it takes me several days to complete a coaster set or even a checkbook cover. If I work hard I can do them in 2-3 days.

But I did manage to complete this navy coaster set that I posted on my work in progress post before. Just in time for the upcoming craft fair. Big navy area there :).

20131202-161429.jpg

I wish I could have had more than one set ready by then but it just won’t happen. My husband suggesting having it out as a sample and taking orders for them, but I’m not sure how people would feel about that. Have any of you ever done something like that before? If so, how did it work out for you?
