With Thanksgiving all but upon us, I’ve been spending some time working on Christmas items, mostly yarn wreaths. However, last week one of my dearest friends texted me a picture of a candle topper and wondered if I could stitch it. So I am slowly making progress on it. It will be a reindeer candle topper.
I’m not sold on the antler yet. I feel like by the time I get the other one on and the other ear, it will be too crowded. So I think I will tweek that. I do like the ear though 🙂 Then I just need to add some eyes and a nose and finish my ends. If it turns out cute, I might make a couple more to put out at my upcoming craft fair. I am also thinking of some other ones to do besides a reindeer. Suggestions anyone?

I live in the eastern part of Maryland. We’ve had a serious snow drought the last few years. I am not a cold weather person at all. In fact, I moved south in part to avoid the cold. But I ended up meeting my husband and thanks to the military, have ended up a bit more north again LoL. So this week it is COLD! At least by my standards. I also enjoy watching the weather in the winter for big (snow) storms to move across the country. I do enjoy watching the weather models and seeing what happens. I even hope for the snow despite not liking the cold. Snow makes it better. But if it is cold like this, it should snow. Then I’m happy! So with the storm moving across the country now, I was hoping we might get our snow that has alluded us of late. We were here in Maryland several years ago when those epic storms came through back-to-back. My littlest one doesn’t remember it though- he was only 2. So I was hoping for him too. He gets thrilled over a dusting. But, it looks like we will be getting just rain 😦
So to go along with our freezing cold weather we have right now (which leaves in time for preciptation to arrive), I decided to make this cute snowflake yarn wreath. This was inspired by a pin I saw on Pinterest the other year. I thought it would be cute to put out at an upcoming craft fair.
So who has snow and wants to send some snow my way?! 🙂

I managed to finish my checkbook cover that I had posted a picture of in my Work in Progress post on Wednesday. I think it turned out pretty cute! It’s my own patter that I came up with. I love the cammo yarn by Red Heart! I plan to do covers with the other military branches soon. Navy will be next as I am getting ready to do a craft fair down near the naval academy in a few weeks.

I’m hoping to find some great sites to link up to and start doing Work I Progress Wednesdays to give me something else to blog about LoL. So here is my work in progress…. But it’s really workS in progress…. I have crafting ADHD I think!
Not too bad, right? And a couple of them are almost done. Yea!
Here is a winter yarn wreath just waiting for it’s glue. Then that one will be finished.
This one is a loom knitting hat. Just in the beginning stages. I started this a few weeks ago and it’s been put aside as I’ve had ideas for other things that I couldn’t wait to get started on LoL.
One of the ideas. Plastic canvas coaster for different military branches. I have Navy, Army, and Air Force done. Well one coaster for each of those. I need to finish the rest of those sets. I also want to do Marines and Coast Guard, but I’m having trouble coming up with a workable pattern.
Finally, another recent idea. This one is actually pretty close to being completed also. Cammo colored checkbook covers with the military branch name on it. This is the first one. It’s an Army one. Hubby’s in the Army, so of course I had to start with that one 🙂
So hopefully I will get at least one of these done at some point today and blog about it on Friday. What are you working on? I would love to see it!

Since I started crafting about two years ago, I’ve grown from just doing plastic canvas to learning to crochet, make yarn wreaths and my most recently, loom knitting. However, plastic canvas is still special to me for two reasons. First, it’s one of the first crafts I remember doing outside of school when my grandmother taught me. Second, it allows me to create my own patterns and express my Christian faith.
I was on a creative whirlwind a while back and come up with a bunch of designs (one or two which I have yet to actually sew). I don’t think I had anything new for about a year! But one night last week, inspiration struck again and I have a bunch of new ideas. The first that I’ve stitched up is a new checkbook cover design.
Here’s a look at the back and inside:
I enjoy making things that are simple, yet pretty. I hope others enjoy it as much as I had fun creating and stitching it. If you are interested in purchasing this item, it is available in my Etsy store here. If you would like to check out my other items listed on Etsy, my store can be found here.

So yesterday I mentioned needing some more ideas and things to blog about and wanting to feature my fellow Etsians. So to kick it off, I am going to start “Thursday Treasury”, featuring a treasury I create on Etsy and share with you all here. I am constantly blown away at the awesome thing I see on Etsy! I hope you will join me in admiring their work and visiting their shops!

Hmmm. I seem to be in a blogging rut. I’m not the best at it to begin with and lately I just can’t seem to find anything to write about! I’ve joined some teams on Etsy, so I’m hoping to start sharing some of their awesome work as well once a week.
So just a quick update on Stitches of Light. The craft fair that I wrote about last time wasn’t too busy. I only ended up with one sale, which was a custom order. But, better than nothing, right? I have another one coming up in early December, which I know is well established and draws a crowd, so I’m hoping former sales there.
I’ve been working really hard on promoting my Facebook page. If you haven’t checked it out and liked it, I would love to have you join me over there. Stitches of Light Facebook. I’ve also added a tab on there to link to my Etsy store. (My shop page on here links to Square Market). Be sure to check it out!
Lastly, I established a Pinterest presence. I’m found there at Stitches of Light.
So that’s it in a nutshell! Stay tuned for some awesome creators in the very near future, including team members from Etsy.
Wow, I can hardly believe it is now November! October was pretty awesome! In the beginning of October I began learning to loom knit. I ordered my first business cards. October also brought me my first etsy sales (including my first custom order), so that was exciting. I’m hoping that the ball is rolling now and that they continue. Here are photos of the custom diaper wreaths I will be shipping out later today.
November will bring my first craft fair. Tomorrow in fact! I a bit nervous and feel like there is soooo much to do before then. I have projects I wish I could have finished (and started), but there just aren’t enough hours in the day for life AND all my ideas lol. But I’m very excited too. I really want to do well.
How was your October? Is there anything coming up for you this month?
